The Nintendo DS was and still is one of the best handheld games consoles available. Although now superseded by the 3DS it still has one hell of a back catalogue of games available for it and should definitely be on the buy list of every retro gamer. Fortunately for those lacking in finances there are also emulators available to play DS games on your PC. You will need a decent spec PC though as the emulators arent perfect and the games can have a lot of slowdown on lesser spec computers. Another issue with emulating this console on a pc is the lack of a touch screen. You have to use the mouse cursor in place of the DS stylus which can be problematic when playing games that require the use of both the touch screen and standard controls at the same time. Text heavy graphic adventure games such as Ace Attorney and the Hotel Dusk are easily playable on the emulator however and if you have a DS already you could do worse than to invest in an R4 DS card that allows you to transfer DS roms from your PC to the card in order to play them on your DS.

In Order to be able to download and play the DS emulator and roms you first need to have winrar. Winrar is a data compression file system that a lot of downloads use so it doesnt hurt to have it already if you dont have it you can download it from HERE just wait the 5 seconds and then click skip ad to be taken to the download page. After you have downloaded and installed winrar (trust me its worth having) you will then need to download the emulator. Which version you choose (yes there are a few) is down to you i personally use one called DeSmuME (weird way of typing it if you ask me) as it seems to be the most hassle free version available. You can download it from HERE. once you have downloaded it go to downloads where you will see it as a rar file (a bunch of stacked books) click on it to open it in winrar and then exract the rar files to wherever (desktop is a pretty safe place) Dont freak out by the amount of files you have you are looking for the one that says DeSmuME which is an executable file and the emulator itself. just click on that and it will run the emulator. Ok so thats the emulator downloaded and fired up your probably thinking you need games (you would be correct) Im not posting a full list in this section but how about a game thats easily playable through the PC emulator download Phoenix Wright HERE then extract it to desktop or wherever as you did with the emulator file. the part you need is the .nds file (easilly spotted). Then its a simple case of selecting file on the emulator screen (top left) and selecting the rom just choose desktop and the nds file and there it is.
